Running the World

A Refugee Team Racing Across the Globe

Who We Are

We are survivors of war, persecution and trauma. We were forced to flee our countries because our lives were at risk. In the past, we ran to escape violence. Now, we run to be part of a community. When we run together, we feel strong. When we race together, we feel free.

Why We Run

Most of us never ran in a race before joining the team. In some countries, running is forbidden for women and girls. In other countries, running isn't safe. When we joined Running the World, we found people who shared the experience of being a refugee. We used to feel sad, scared and alone. When we started running together, we started to feel more peaceful. We even started to feel proud of ourselves. We're a community and we're helping each other to heal.

One Team, One World

We are from 4 continents and 13 countries. We speak 15 different languages. We have different histories, traditions, ages and capacities. When we run together, we're one team. We're one running family supporting each other.
